Activity:
Students will
1) Receive instruction in math class for making change,
analyzing and recording data, figuring percentages, managing a budget,
and recording hours worked
2) Be briefed on appropriate ways to handle the interview process (grooming, manners, punctuality, confidence) and be given an interview date and time. They will be given a sheet which describes the various positions that they will be able to interview for and the responsibilities of each.
3) Demonstrate during the interview their ability to greet customers, offer assistance, promote sales, make change, and figure percentages
4) Be responsible for communicating with managers, punctuality, recording hours worked, attendance, and productive use of time.
5) Arrange store displays so that the merchandise is neat and visible.
6) Make signs and advertised specials legible.
7) Use the cash register
a) Count and record bank
b) Log in as a user
c) Follow the correct procedure
d) Read and communicate amount due and change due to the customer
e) Close the sale and give a sales receipt
f) Record the sales and profits for a day
8) Inventory stock and arrange it so that it is easy to find
9) Assist with ordering and re-ordering products
10) Create slogans and commercials which positively promote the store
Evaluation:
This lesson will be reviewed and evaluated by observation of
student performance, accuracy of the cash register receipts, accuracy of
the time cards, and success of the store itself.
